At least 13 people were crushed to death or asphyxiated in Peru as playgoers tried to flee a nightclub raided by the police because it was open in violation of restrictions imposed to fight the coronavirus pandemic, NTDV writes.
Minimum 120 people gathered in the Lima club contrary to the coronavirus restrictions. Locals informed police on the gathering.
An Interior Ministry’s statement said the revelers tried to squeeze in mass through the only entrance door and became trapped between the door and a staircase leading to the street. The incident killed 13.
Reportedly, police did not use arms for dispersing the gathering.
The investigation into the case is launched. Twenty-three people are arrested at present.
