More than 200 gold Louis d'ors found in a house in the western part of France were sold at auction for 1 million euros, the auction house Ivoire Angers/Deloys reports.

"The coins were created during the reigns of Louis XIII and Louis XIV," the auction house said.

The initial cost of the lot was 300 thousand euros. The coins were sold separately. The Paris Mint Museum purchased nineteen coins.

239 gold coins were found in the wall of one of the houses in 2019. The couple who made the discovery left four coins in their possession.

Proceeds from the auction will be distributed to three workers and homeowners who have renovated their home and found a box full of coins.
