ABC News reports on more than 200 confirmed or suspected cases of a mysterious illness linked to the coronavirus and affecting children in the USA

The rare syndrome cases are identified in 20 states of the country.

The so-called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children resembles toxic shock syndrome and Kawasaki disease, itself a rare inflammatory disease typically affecting children under the age of five and has the potential to be deadly.

At least three children have died with the syndrome in New York.

The Kawasaki-like syndrome associated with coronavirus is detected in Europe as well.

France reports nine children’s deaths with Kawasaki syndrome and COVID-19 infection.

Similar cases are revealed in Italy in one of Bergamo hospitals reporting 30-times high Kawasaki syndrome among children compared to previous years. Professionals say that there was a total of 19 cases from 2015 until February 17, 2020.

The latest reports confirm the growing tendency of Kawasaki syndrome developed in children affected by COVID-19.
