Coronavirus case numbers have reached 140,320,000 worldwide, figures from the WHO show. Total cases passed 809,000 in the past 24 hours. The daily death toll stands at 11,400, with the pandemic claiming a total of 3,003,794 lives. 

The US, with its 31,250 635 cases, has so far confirmed the most of them; India, with a total of 13, 832,455 cases comes next and Brazil, with 14,788,109 cases is third on the top three countries' list.

Coronavirus case statistics in other countries worldwide is as follows:

France _ 5,178,513 cases; Russia _ 4 ,702 101; Great Britain _ 4,385,942; Italy _ 3,857,443 cases; Germany _ 3,142,262; Spain _ 3,396,685; Turkey _ 4,212,645; Argentina _ 2,658,628; and Poland _2, 688,025.

The WHO confirmed the new coronavirus a pandemic on 11 March 2020. The coronavirus outbreak occurred in China in December 2019. On 21 January, the China-born virus was proved contagious and quarantine measures were implemented in two Chinese cities.

Georgia reported its first coronavirus case on 26 February 2020. A state of emergency was declared on 21 March and universal quarantine restrictions enforced on 31 March.
