Ilham Aliyev: We have nothing against Armenian nation

"If the Armenian nation wants a peaceful life, they must hold the government accountable for their actions," said Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during a visit to wounded Azerbaijani military in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

According to him, the Armenian nation's problem is that a criminal regime has ruled it for many years.

"A regime that committed genocide against Azerbaijanis only for private interests and has occupied our lands. I am sure that the Armenian nation will understand my words correctly. We have nothing against the Armenian nation. Azerbaijan is a multinational state and many nations, including the Armenian nation, live here in peace. Thousands of Armenians live on the territory of Azerbaijan, and nobody tells them anything. They are our citizens," Aliyev said.

According to the President of Azerbaijan, the country follows international law, and the Azerbaijani military is fighting for its native land.

"We have never fought against civil society. As soon as the counterattack operation began, I instructed our command and the Ministry of Defense not to take any action against the civilian population. Our target is positions, equipment, the manpower of the Armenian armed forces. But they shoot our villages and cities, 13 civilians have been killed, more than 40 civilians injured, 168 houses destroyed. It is the face of Armenian fascism," Aliyev said.
