A variant of the coronavirus that was first detected in India and is now called Delta spread to more than 80 countries this week and became dominant in Great Britain, the British health authorities report.
Last week in the UK, despite a fairly good vaccination rate, more than 30,000 cases of coronavirus got detected, of which 90% were Delta variants.
Public health officials in England say the new strain is 64% more contagious than other coronavirus strains.
Also, according to specialists, the "Delta" strain is accompanied by unusual symptoms: abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, and hearing loss. In addition, according to Scottish virologists, Delta carries a higher risk of hospitalization.
