Japan has set a world record for so-called healthy longevity. This means the age up to which an elderly person can do without assistance and not need care. According to Report.ge the Ministry of Labor, Health, and Welfare of the country shares the information.

“The age of healthy longevity in Japan – for both men and women – has become the highest in the world,” the ministry said in a statement.

For women, it is 75.5 years, and for men, 72.6.

Compared to 2016 data, the growth was 0.59 years for women and 0.54 for men. Compared to 2001, the age of “healthy longevity” increased by 2.73 years for women and 3.28 years for men.
