Former Kyrgyzstan president Almazbek Atambayev has been arrested over the crisis in Bishkek, National Security Committee reports.

Atambayev was detained as a result of investigative activities. He faces charges for organizing massive hassle in the Kirgizstan capital Bishkek.

The Prosecutor's Office is searching for his accomplices.

Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov declared a state of emergency.

The National Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan canceled the parliamentary election results amid protests.

Kyrgyzstan held the parliamentary elections on October 4.

Sixteen political parties took part in the elections, and 12 out of them rejected the election results, as only pro-government political forces passed a 7% threshold.

The rejection led to protest rallies and public disorder. The protesters demand the elections be held again.
