The First Vice President of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, has issued a statement on the 98th anniversary of the national leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev.
"Today marks 98 years since the birth of Heydar Aliyev. He was a great person who dedicated his whole life to Azerbaijan. He was always driven by an immense love for his homeland and his people. He wanted the people to live happily in an independent, prosperous and strong Azerbaijan.
Heydar Aliyev is no longer with us, but his ideas are still alive, his plans are still being implemented. Most importantly, his cherished wish was fulfilled, and under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, we have regained our lands, which have been occupied for 30 years," she wrote.
