Murderer sentenced to death for accusing victim of witchcraft in the US

A 50-year-old inmate got executed in the United States. He raped and killed a woman 19 years ago, saying that she used witchcraft on him. CNN writes about the case.

William Emmett LeCroy was under probation at the time of the crime. He had previously spent ten years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor, rape, robbery, and assault in aggravated circumstances.

In 2001, he broke into the home of a 30-year-old nurse, Joann Lee Tiesler, raped and killed her. Later he hijacked a car and tried to cross the Canadian border, where he was arrested.

The killer told psychiatrists that a woman who was the same age as he had been his nanny who sexually abused William 20 years ago when he was a child. He also believed that the woman bewitched him.

William Emmett LeCroy was given a lethal injection.
