The ruling faction of the Armenian Parliament My Step has nominated Nikol Pashinyan for the second time on the post of the Prime Minister of Armenia in order to dissolve the parliament and hold early elections. The head of the faction, Lilit Makunts, revealed the given information at the National Assembly meeting.
Last week, the Armenian parliament did not support the candidacy of Nikol Pashinyan for the post of Prime Minister.
Thus, since the legislature failed to re-elect the head of government within a week, parliament will be dissolved, and early elections will be formally called.
The date of early parliamentary elections has already been set in Armenia; elections will be held on June 20.
