The World Health Organization has published data according to which, from January 3 to January 9, more than 15 million people worldwide were infected with the coronavirus.

There were 15,453,286 people who were infected with COVID-19 last week, a 55% increase over the previous seven days. Most cases are still reported in Europe. The increase was 31%. Particularly high numbers are in Southeast Asia and the western Pacific. In Africa, morbidity fell by 11% in one week.

The death toll reached 43,461 people worldwide in the past week.

Since the beginning of the pandemic to date, there have been 308 458 509 cases of coronavirus and 5 492 595 deaths worldwide. Most of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 are recorded in the US - 59 848 136, then India (35 875 790) and Brazil (22 523 907). The highest number of deaths in the US - 831 548, followed by Brazil - 619 981, India - 484 213.
