According to Sinovac, preliminary studies have shown that their vaccine against Covid-19 is safe for children aged 3 to 17.
The company has already passed the data to Chinese drug regulators.
More than 70 million people worldwide have already been vaccinated with the Sinovac. Most of them come from China.
China has approved the use of the vaccine only in adults, and it has not yet been used in children because their immune systems may react differently.
In a study, the vaccine's effects were tested in 550 adolescents and found to be effective. Only two patients (3 and 6 years olds) developed side effects with a high fever.
