State of emergency extended again in Armenia

The Armenian government has decided to extend the state of emergency in the country for another month. It will last until September 11th.

According to the Minister of Justice of the country, Rustam Badasyan, this is necessary because the death rate from COVID-19 is high.

Some restrictions will ease in the country. In particular, the country will open its borders to foreign nationals, although they will have to undergo a 2-week quarantine. However, if their coronavirus test is negative, the self-isolation regime may end prematurely.

Restrictions on mass gatherings will be lifted. Such events will take place with social distance and masks. Family events will also be allowed, although the number of participants should not exceed 40 people.

The document adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers will be sent to the legislature for approval today.

The new coronavirus in Armenia has been confirmed by 201 people in the last 24 hours, reaching the total number of 40 794.
