The birth rate in Italy has dramatically reduced on the background of the coronavirus, informs the National Institute of Statistics.
According to the document, the birth rate indicator is expected to speed up in the post-pandemic Italy. Last year only 435 thousand newborns were registered in the country, a historical minimum, while 2o percent of the newborn was delivered by foreign mothers.
Based on experts’ assumptions, the number of newborns in Italy will continue to decrease by 10 thousand or more and will fall to 426 thousand.
Experts point out that the reasons for the above are the fear of epidemics, mass in the labor market that will negatively be reflected in the number of employed people.
