November 9 is the Day of Berlin Wall Fall. Exactly 30 years ago the East Germany government gave the right to the population to move to West Germany. The right was used by thousands of Germans country-wide who started break down the wall.
The Day of Berlin Wall Fall is celebrated in whole Germany and beyond the country borders. Events to commemorate the peaceful revolution and the history of the Wall are planned.
The construction of the Berlin Wall was the result of the joint decision made by the government of German Democratic Republic and its allies on August 13, 1961. It stood erected during 28 years. The peaceful revolution of 1989 initiated the process of uniting of Germany and Europe.
