Japan has been hit by one of the most powerful typhoons in the last 60 years. Typhoon Hagibis struck central and eastern parts of the country. The death toll now stands at 66 as cleanup efforts are underway in many areas. Hundreds are considered missing. Thousands of firefighters, police and military are involved in the rescue operations.

The population has not been supplied with water and electricity so far, central roads, shops and part of schools are closed.

According to Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan there is a huge economic loss but the Japanese authorities will do their best to overcome it. The state will spend $ 4.6 billion on restoration work this year and if necessary the given amount will be increased.
