As a result of the avalanche in Nepal, at least seven people are missing. The accident occurred yesterday in one of the highest peaks of Himalaya, on the track leading to Annapurna, 3 230 meters over the sea level. The citizens of South Korea and Nepal are among the lost.
“Four of our Korean clients, who were trekking in the Annapurna region, are not in contact and are missing since an avalanche struck them on Friday. Four helicopters have been deployed for the search and rescue mission with police and local volunteers also looking for the trekkers. However, the rough weather conditions were making the operation difficult," -said the Nepal Tourism Department official.
The South Korean government sends a rescue team to save its citizens.
Annapurna is considered the mount of the absolute avalanche risk with the highest death indicator. Forty people died during the storm in Annapurna mount in 2014.
