Turkish Parliament condemns France's Senate resolution regarding Karabakh

Turkey's Parliament strongly condemns the resolution made by the French Senate concerning Karabakh, Anadolu reports

Four of Turkey's leading parliamentary parties - the Justice and Development Party, the Republican People's Party, the Nationalist Action Party, and the İYİ Party - condemned French lawmakers.

The statement, signed by the Speaker of the Parliament Mustafa Shentop, emphasizes the firm support for brotherly Azerbaijan's position on liberation from the occupation of historical lands.

"The Turkish Parliament and the people of Turkey will undoubtedly take into account the aggressive steps towards our country and brotherly Azerbaijan. The French Senate resolution on recognizing the so-called "NKR", adopted by 305 votes of legislators, does not represent any significance from the point of view of international law. Nagorno-Karabakh was and remains the territory of Azerbaijan," the document reads.

The statement focuses on the 30-year inactivity of France as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.

"The resolution was not a surprise to Turkey,'' reads the statement, ''The fact that an absolute majority of the members of the French Senate voted in support of the biased document raises concerns for the future of this country," the statement claims.
