UN adopts resolution initiated by the President of Azerbaijan

In the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, the member states of the organization adopted a resolution "Ensuring equal, timely, universal access to vaccines at an affordable price for all countries in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic," initiated by the President of Azerbaijan as the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement. The Azerbaijani media spread the information based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

126 UN member states joined the resolution as a co-author.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, the resolution welcomes global initiatives to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The document also expresses concern about the inequality in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines between developed and developing countries and emphasizes that this is one of the main obstacles to achieving sustainable development goals.

"The importance of multilateralism, international solidarity, and cooperation in the fight against COVID-19 is highlighted. In this context, all governments, private companies, and other stakeholders are encouraged to take concrete measures to ensure equal, affordable, timely, and universal access to COVID-19 vaccines," reads the information.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan thanked all the states that supported the draft resolution.
