The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has issued a statement on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and called on the parties to a ceasefire.
"Violence in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone has risen sharply during the past ten days. There have been reports of four children killed and seven injured, and if the fighting does not end, the numbers will increase," UNICEF said.
UNICEF also added that the fighting damaged homes, schools, and other important civilian infrastructure.
"We call on both sides to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure from damage following international and humanitarian law. The immediate cessation of hostilities is in the best interests of all children," the UNICEF said in a statement.
