The COVAX Program of the World Health Organization (WHO) has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, The Guardian reports.

The program aims to ensure equitable distribution of coronavirus vaccines to developing countries.

COVID-19 vaccine deliveries via the COVAX platform will begin in February.

The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), working to increase immunization in emerging countries, is also nominated for the same prize.

Norwegian MPs nominated both organizations.

The UN World Food Program won the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.
