Forty-nine cities, including Tbilisi and Batumi, have joined the UNESCO network of creative cities. Information is available on the UNESCO website.
UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay has added new cities to the network because of their desire to put culture and creativity at the forefront of their development and share knowledge and best practices.
She said the new urban model should be developed in every city, with architects, planners, landscape designers, and citizens.
Azoulay said the organization calls on everyone to work with states to strengthen international cooperation between the cities, which UNESCO wants to promote.
The network brings together 295 cities from 90 countries and invests in culture and creativity.
