Georgian musician and composer Vazha Azarashvili would have turned 85 today; the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth of Georgia spread the information.
"The composer's work is distinguished by genre diversity. A wide audience fell in love with Vazha Azarashvili because of his melodic, easy-to-remember songs. He is the author of about 250 pop songs," the agency said.
Vazha Azarashvili has won numerous awards and prizes. He has received the State Prize of Georgia for his contribution to Georgian art, the Zakaria Paliashvili and Iakob Gogebashvili Prizes, is the People's Artist of Georgia, the holder of the Order of Honor, and others.
In 2017, the Ministry of Culture awarded a special award, "Priest of Art," for its outstanding contribution to the development of Georgian art.
