British writer John Le Carré (real name David John Moore Cornwell) has died at the age of 89. According to the publication, the cause of his death was a short illness not related to the coronavirus. According to the writer's family, Le Carré had pneumonia.

John Le Carré is the author of dozens of spy novels that have been translated into 36 languages. Cornwell was born in Poole in 1931 and worked with British intelligence in the 1950s. He published his first novel, Call for the Dead, in 1961. Numerous films have been made based on his books.
