Tbilisi City Court left Irakli Okruashvili, leader of Victorious Georgia, in custody.

After the hearing, prosecutor Giorgi Mukbaniani explained that the court considers changing the preventive measure once a month, and since there were no new circumstances in the case, the judge left him in custody.

The judge stated that there was still a possibility that Okruashvili would go into hiding and influence witnesses.

At today's trial, the prosecution had three witnesses - two investigators and press center employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Vakhtang Iashvili, the lawyer of Orkruashvili, said that Bidzina Ivanishvili demanded Okruashvili to stay in custody. According to him, the prosecution mainly cites witnesses who have nothing to do with Irakli Okruashvili and were merely on the same territory.

The defendant himself did not attend the trial.

The court scheduled the next hearing on January 23.

Irakli Okruashvili has been detained in connection with the events of June 20-21. The investigation has charged him under Article 225 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving the organization, direction, or participation in mass violence.
