Court to announce verdict on Nika Melia’s case

Tbilisi City Court will decide the case related to the organized attempt to bankrupt Cartu Bank. The trial scheduled at 9:30 is related to Zurab Adeishvili, the former Minister of Justice and Nika Melia, the member of National Movement. The process will be attended by Melia. Members of the United National Movement will gather at the City Court building in the morning.

Nika Melia and Zurab Adeishvili were charged in 2012. Melia was holding the position of the Head of the National Bureau of Enforcement then.

Melia and Adeishvili are charged with abuse of power and hiding property. Zurab Adeishvili was sentenced to imprisonment as for Melia he was released for bail amounting GEL 25 000.

The investigation charges Nika Melia an attempt to bankrupt Cartu Bank in revenge of Bidzina Ivanishvili. The former Minister of Justice, Zura Adeishvili is also involved in the case. According to Melia’s Lawyers the case refers to two articles, the hardest of which implies 7-10 years of imprisonment.
