LEPL Regulation Agency for Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities of Georgia has detected instances of illegally buying and selling psychotropic medications.
The agency employees retrieved over 6,000 medications from special hiding areas in Tbilisi and Batumi pharmacies. Additionally, they managed to buy psychotropic drugs in five pharmacies without presenting a doctor's prescription; they also uncovered six instances of illegal pharmaceutical activities.
''In September only, the agency uncovered 11 pharmacies in Tbilisi and Batumi, which breached the rules for buying and selling psychotropic medications. Following the required measures, 5,766 psychotropic medications were seized,'' Director of Regulation Agency for Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities said.
Three instances of violation of permit conditions and the procedure for registering pharmaceutic products were also detected.
