The Investigation Service arrested the chairman of Tsalenjikha Sakrebulo (local self-government), Temur Ghvinjilia, and one staff member.
The investigation charges the public workers over the smuggling of cigarettes in significant amounts.
According to the Investigation group of Finance Ministry, 34,000 GEL worse 8,310 packs of illegal cigarettes were identified.
The investigation is launched according to article 200, point 2, part 3 of the criminal code, envisaging 6 – 8 years of jail.
