The General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia addressed the Court of Appeal over the case of Nika Melia, one of the leaders of the United National Movement. The Prosecutor's office is appealing a ruling by the City Court, where Nika Melia was not found guilty in one episode of Cartu Bank's artificial bankruptcy case.

One of the leaders of the United National Movement thinks that the issue is politically motivated.

"The City Court reviewed the case for seven years. Now, the only thing you can expect is imprisonment, of course. Ivanishvili is trying to make all opposition party leaders wonder if someone is about to arrest them. He is not always going to be the one who has the power to do so," Nika Melia stated.

The court fined Nika Melia, a member of the United National Movement, with GEL 25,000 and deprived of the right to hold office for two years and three months. The parliamentary mandate of Nika Melia, the Member of the United National Movement, was suspended on December 12.
