UNM head Nika Melia says government will keep him in custody

'I do not think the government will withdraw the decision on keeping me in custody as a political prisoner as we have gone beyond the law,' UNM head Nika Melia said, adding that despite the pressure the authorities have to endure, they will not allow his release.

In Melia's words, he will be kept behind bars as Ivanishvili's representatives do not want him at the negotiating table together with him.

''I will have a great moral and psychological advantage over them; I will not now start explaining why. Additionally, the government will not permit me to actively get involved in the 15 May protest rally preparations,'' Mr. Melia had written in his comment, which he gave to the Mtavari Arkhi (Main Channel).

UNM Head Nika Melia's court trial was scheduled for 8 April.
