Candidate for the Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri said that he salutes the fact that women dare to notify the police of domestic violence.
"They could not cross this barrier; however, we made video clips send SMS messages to them in the Georgian, Azerbaijani and Armenian languages, urging victims to call the police. 112 emergency telephone number also introduced the SOS button; those who failed to call were enabled to push the button and call the police. By the way, lots of people have used it.
An increase in domestic violence cases is a negative phenomenon; however, we are glad that women dare to call the police.
Calls have almost quadrupled," Gomelauri said.
