Chairperson of the Healthcare Committee of the Parliament Akaki Zoidze declared that he is leaving the parliament, with the consultations on this issue having already been held with his colleagues.
According to Mr Zoidze, after a failure to convince his colleagues of the necessity of plebiscite, he cannot see himself on the political scene any longer. "I failed to demonstrate the necessity of holding a plebiscite or referendum; hence, I cannot see myself in politics any longer; however, I will stand by the Georgian Dream whenever it does something useful for the country," Zoidze said.
On Nov 14, after the parliament rejected the bill on proportional electoral system, Akaki Zoidze announced that if a referendum or plebiscite had not been held with regard to the electoral system, he would have disengaged from politics.
