Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament, Anri Okhanashvili, says that with its respect to freedom of expression, Georgia is a leader not only in the region but in entire Europe also.
In Okhanashvili's words, amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences are not related to protests, and some political parties are trying to mislead the public by making them believe that hooliganism and police disobedience are commonplace at rally sites, with this somehow being related to gatherings and freedom of expression.
''Under the Georgian Dream government, freedom of expression is highly respected in Georgia. With its respect to freedom of expression, the country is a leader in the region as well as entire Eastern Europe,'' he declared.
