EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell says the State Security Service is interested in detecting potential threats and has reasons to use secret surveillance. However, the use of these types of tools with caution should be done under supervision.
"There is a lot of talk about the content of these records and what it means, but in this context, I want to remind everyone that, of course, any security service is interested in the security of the state in order to keep an eye on the threats that the state may face, including terrorism, espionage. There are good reasons to use these types of tools. However, their use must be controlled, with proper oversight," said Carl Hartzell.
