Parliamentary majority member Dimitri Khundadze has expressed his desire to have his mandate suspended. He made the corresponding statement on the election system related changes, which are being now discussed in the legislative body. Mr. Khundadze addressed Archil Talakvadze, the Head of the Parliament, and asked him to cancel the discussion of the draft bill, but the head refused to meet his request.
According to Mr. Khundadze, he cannot vote for the bill, since it is a risky step, which is why he is ready to leave the parliament.
A few months ago, the ruling party announced its plan to change the voting system, with this envisaging introduction of proportional voting system with its zero threshold.
