"The opening of a ceasefire by the Armenian Armed Forces to civilians and towns following the humanitarian ceasefire agreement is another example of barbarism and shows that the Armenian authorities' calls for a ceasefire are mere hypocrisy," Eldar Bayramov, the advisor to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Georgia, stated.
According to him, on the night of October 11, Ganja, the second-largest city in Azerbaijan, located very far from the front line, became the target of a rocket attack by the Armenian armed forces.
"One medical worker was seriously injured as a result of the fire opened by the Armenian Armed Forces in the direction of the ambulance, which had attached white flags, and was collecting the corpses of Armenian soldiers in the territory of Suqovusan.
The attack on Ganja killed nine civilians and injured 34, including children.
As soon as the humanitarian ceasefire agreement entered into force, the Armenian armed forces opened fire on the Agdam and Tartar districts of Azerbaijan, and a few hours later, the Armenian armed forces attempted to attack Gadrut and Jabrayil.
Besides, throughout the course of hostilities, beginning on September 27, Armenia, faced with restrictions on land and air transit of military cargo by neighboring states, began using civilian aircraft for this purpose. An illegal act like this one grossly violates international law norms, including Article 44 of the Chicago Convention.
We strongly condemn acts of aggression by Armenia and abuse of the humanitarian ceasefire regime. We call on the international community to take effective steps to force the occupying country, Armenia, to abide by international law norms and its obligations. The entire responsibility for the situation in the region lies with the political-military leadership of the Republic of Armenia," Eldar Bayramov said.
