A five-hour meeting among the ruling party, opposition, and representatives of diplomatic corps has reportedly ended at the official residence of German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch.
At the Ambassador's invitation, Chairperson of the Parliament Archil Talakvadze and a member of the majority Irakli Kobakhidze arrived at the meeting, with the representatives of the opposition also attending it. The meeting ended without any particular agreement on the electoral system related issues.
After the meeting, politicians pointed out that representatives of the diplomatic corps are attempting to provide the government and the opposition with assistance to enable them to achieve a consensus on election-related issues.
A similar unofficial meeting was conducted under the aegis of the EU. After the meeting, the Chairperson of the parliament declared that the next round of negotiations between the government and the opposition would be held soon. The dialogue between the two opposing parties was terminated after Gigi Ugulava's arrest.
