Georgia, Azerbaijan celebrate 28th anniversary of diplomatic ties

On 18 November, Georgia and Azerbaijan marked the 28th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

On 18 November 1992, the two countries laid the foundation for their diplomatic ties.

The Embassy of Georgia in Baku, Azerbaijan was opened in February of 1995, and the Embassy of Azerbaijan started functioning in Georgia in March of 1996.

On 17 August 2020, Faig Guliyev was appointed to the post of Azerbaijan's ambassador to Georgia, and he presented his credentials to President Zurabishvili on 2 October.

Zurab Pataridze has served as Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan since August of 2018.

The consulate general of Azerbaijan has functioned in Batumi since 2010, with Parviz Ismayilzada serving as a general consul.

The consulate general of Georgia in Ganja opened in 2013, with the general consul being Nikoloz Iashvili.

Georgia and Azerbaijan have so far completed more than 100 agreements.
