Georgian parliament approves draft bill on revoking State Inspector's Service

The parliament of Georgia has approved the draft bill on revoking the State Inspector's Service at its first hearing, with 82 approving the bill and 13 voting against it.

The State Inspector's Service is set to be replaced by two bodies _ the Special Investigation Department and the Personal Data Protection Department.

The Special Investigation Department will look into crimes by public officials, and the Personal Data Protection Department will exercise control over personal data processing and all secret investigation activities.
