The Legal Issues Committee voted for the candidates for the Supreme Court.

Lawmakers backed 14 candidates out of 20 people listed.

The Committee on Legal Issues endorsed the following candidates:

Merab Gabinashvili - 7 votes, Miranda Eremadze - 6 votes, Mamuka Vasadze - 7 votes, Maia Vachadze - 7 votes, Tamar Zambakhidze - 8 votes, Shalva Tadumadze - 8 votes, Vladimer Kakabadze - 6 votes, Levan Mikaberidze - 6 votes, Giorgi Mikautadze - 8 votes, Nugzar Skhirtladze - 6 votes, Lali Papiashvili - 7 votes, Nino Kadagidze - 7 votes, Ketevan Tsintsadze - 6 votes, Alexandre Tsuladze - 6 votes.

The committee failed the following candidates:

Tamar Alania - 1 vote, Gocha Jeiranashvili - 1 vote, Lasha Kochiashvili - 1 vote, Zaza Tavadze - 0, Shota Getsadze - 1, Paata Silagadze - 2 votes.

Lawmakers formally voted for Zaza Tavadze, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, who refused to be a judge of the Supreme Court.

The lawmakers will have to approve the candidates at a parliamentary session.

Eka Beselia, the independent deputy, did not allow Anri Okhanashvili, the Chairperson of the Legal Issues Committee, to start the voting procedure for the candidates for the Supreme Court.

Beselia sat beside Anri Okhanashvili and interrupted him. Okhanashvili turned off the microphone and announced a five-minute break.

The Resource Officers made journalists leave the hall, but after some noise, the journalists were allowed to return.
