MEP Michael Gahler has said in his statement that election day in Georgia was peaceful, and this factor would help Georgia move closer to the EU.
In Gahler's words, Georgians have exercised their democratic right to elect a local candidate.
The MEP also noted that Georgia is their premier partner, and they can see the country's aspiration to become a NATO member.
According to Michael Gahler, political polarisation is not still effectively managed in the country, and the absence of a level playing field prevents candidates from competing in fair conditions.
