Mikheil Saakashvili pushes plan to employ extreme form of protest to later date

Lawyer Shota Tutberidze says that ex-pres. Mikheil Saakashvili plans to apply extreme forms of protest unless his requirements are met before the end of January.''Extreme forms of protest may include a hunger strike; however, other forms may also be employed. In his view, this condition is more acceptable and effective for achieving the aim. I do not remember any undelivered promise or an ultimatum on Saakashvili's part unlike those who have so far avoided ensuring an unbiased trial for him,'' the lawyer said, adding that the issue of confidentiality at the ex-president's meetings has so far remained unresolved. ''We were devoid of the opportunity of confidential communication today, like other days, and we failed to exchange the written correspondence,'' lawyer Tutberidze said.

The lawyer appealed to heads of the institution and the Chairman of the Bar Association to assist them in eradicating similar issues.

Ex-leader Saakashvili has presented the government with two requirements: providing him with an independent team of doctors and ensuring full restoration of communication. The latest date for fulfilling the two requirements was 6 January.
