Public Defender Nino Lomjaria has responded to the recent incident on Rustaveli Avenue, during which riot police have used water cannons to disperse protesters.
"We are exerting strenuous efforts to find a right and fair solution to the recent crisis. We have witnesses deplorable developments outside the CEC building. Subjecting rally participants to violence without first warning them is against our legislation! Police are not entitled to use violence even after they warn protesters if the law is not breached. I call on police not to subject protesters to violence," Lomjaria's statement reads.
