The European Parliament delegation has been observing the self-government elections since the morning. Experts from the OSCE/ODIHR are working in different regions. This time some of them arrived in Telavi. European lawmakers assessed the voting process, saying they found no serious irregularities.
"The elections are being held following the high standards. So far, we have not found any shortcomings, no problems have been identified. I think it is important for democratic development that the elections go smoothly," says Tomáš Zdechovský, a member of the European People's Party group in the European Parliament.
"We are observing the election process in Telavi. As an MEP, I think Georgia should continue its way on the path of the European Union. This is the only way to develop and improve the lives of citizens. Despite the pre-election tensions that may exist in all countries, the elections are going smoothly," says Corina Crețu, a member of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
