The Party of European Socialists supports the initiative of the Georgian Dream to send Gigi Ugulava's case-study mission to Georgia. The party writes about the initiative on its website.
According to the statement, Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, had the initiative after the verdict against Gigi Ugulava, the leader of European Georgia, caused the dispute.
"We welcome this step towards improving the transparency of the Georgian judicial system. The mission, led by colleagues from the Social Democratic and People's Party, will help the case and will bring clarity to it," Sergei Stanishev, the President of the Party of European Socialist.
Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, tweeted that the Georgian Dream proposes that the European Parliament send its mission to study the case of Gigi Ugulava, a member of the European Georgia party. Kakha Kaladze and Irakli Kobakhidze have paid a working visit to Strasbourg and are holding meetings with the members of the European Parliament.
The Supreme Court found Gigi Ugulava guilty. The Court sentenced the former Mayor of Tbilisi to three years and two months in prison for embezzling funds.
