"Expressing a diplomatic protest on our part would have been unreasonable and counterproductive, "Georgian PM Gakharia commented on his speech made in Russian at the GUAM summit.

The hosting country required that speeches be made in Russian," according to the PM.

"This makes me smile as a language does not make any meaningful difference. The host country that is involved in a fierce conflict with Russia made a speech in Russian, and it wanted others to follow its lead. Expressing a diplomatic protest on our part would have been unreasonable and counterproductive and would have prevented us from achieving the desired outcomes with Ukraine," Gakharia declared.

Some left-wing politicians, however, have slammed the PM for making a speech in Russian at the GUAM Summit.
