The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili met with the delegation of the Members of the European Parliament. The October 2 local elections were discussed with the members of the European People's Party and the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats - Tomáš Zdechovský, Victor Negrescu, and Corina Crețu.

The Prime Minister said the elections would be free, democratic, transparent, and competitive.

It was noted at the meeting that the elections are being monitored by many authoritative international organizations and representatives of partner countries at the invitation of the government.

During the meeting, it was also mentioned that the Georgian government is preparing to make an official application for full membership in the European Union in 2024. Members of the European Parliament reaffirmed the European Parliament's strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
