"UNESCO is not an investigative body and does not make conclusions," said Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, referring to the inclusion of TV Pirveli cameraman Lekso Lashkarava in the list of journalists killed.
"UNESCO is making a list when journalists die. In this case, as I saw, the government has been asked what the situation was. The Interior Ministry and the prosecutor's office will make a statement. An investigation is underway, an expert examination has been conducted, and the public is aware of the preliminary data. UNESCO is not an investigative body and does not draw conclusions. This issue is open, and they are waiting for an answer," Papuashvili said.
UNESCO has included Lekso Lashkarava, the deceased cameraman of TV Pirveli, in the list of journalists killed in 2021.
