State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia Ketevan Tsikhelashvili has responded to the decision to hold Vazha Gaprindashvili in custody.
"I will not expand on either the issue of the so-called court or its so-called decision. The fact is that they have delayed Vazha Gaprindashvili's release from illegal custody, with this impossible to have any preconditions. This move just once again unveils their real face, their chosen path and their attitude to people and the humanitarian issues. Certainly, they must be held accountable for this. Unprecedented efforts are indeed being made to release Vazha Gaprindashvili," Tsikhelashvili declared.
The so-called Akhalgori Court has left Dr. Vazha Gaprindashvili in custody.
Renowned Georgian doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili has been held in custody since Nov 9.
The de facto government charged Gaprindashvili with an illegal entry of the region; however, the doctor refuses to plead guilty and asserts that he is in the territory of Georgia.
